The Mystic Order of Veiled Prophets of the Enchanted Realm, also known as the Grottoes of North America, is a social organization for Master Masons, making it an appended body of Freemasonry. Founded in 1892, the Grotto is intended to bring an element of fun and relaxation to the sometimes serious activities of Freemasonry.
Members, called Prophets, meet in "Grottoes," which are the local bodies of the Order. The organization's philosophy promotes good fellowship, social companionship, and the enhancement of Masonic principles. It is dedicated to the belief that Masonic activities should not only be serious and introspective but should also provide an outlet for joy, fun, and camaraderie.
The Grottoes of North America support a Humanitarian Foundation, which is their charitable arm. The Foundation primarily provides dental care for children with special needs, helping them access services they might not otherwise afford. They partner with dental professionals across the U.S. to provide these necessary services, demonstrating their commitment to improving the lives of children and exemplifying the charitable spirit at the heart of Freemasonry.
